Mrinal Upadhyay

(Instruments: Mridang & Pakhawaj)

Completing Bachelors of Music in Mridang from Prayag Sangeet Samiti was only the beginning of Mrinal’s list of achievements which now includes a Gold Medal at the All India Music Competition, Talmani Award for Mridang Player, National Award (Gold Medal) by Youth Affairs & Sports Government Of India and ‘Best Young Artist’ by Vedic Heritage, New York. At a very young age, Mrinal played at prestigious events like Lucknow Mahotsav, Gaya Mahotsav, Sangeet Maha Bharati & Kala Ghoda Festival in Mumbai, Ganpati Utsav in Itarsi and Konark Festival. He was also chosen to play at cultural evenings in New York, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Canberra with other esteemed Indian musicians and performers. Mrinal also lends his time to teaching his art and has been associated with Poddar High School, Angel Kalashetra and Delhi Public School in Mumbai.

Anis Chandani

(Instruments: Keyboard, Flute & Piano)

At the raw age of 11, Anis began training in music at the Satamkar Sangeet Vidyalaya, Mumbai and successfully passed all annual exams, each with a 1st-class. Thereby, Anis acquired the degree of Sangeet Visharad (BA-Music) in 1992. Anis’ music career kicked off while still in school when he played Marathi folk music with a Harmonium in a stage show. In 1989, the Maharashtra Government honored him for being the ‘youngest music director’ for their national event Apna Utsav. Moving his career further, Anis went on to playing the Mandolin for Marathi movies, while also playing live on stage for one of the best Marathi orchestras in Mumbai. Many years thereon, Anis started playing the Keyboard (synthesizer) in Hindi orchestras in 1994 and has since performed with eminent Bollywood musicians and singers like Talat Aziz, Manhar Udhas,  Penaz Masani and Amit Kumar across USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, China, Middle East, Israel, Egypt and other countries.

Besides these, Anis has also provided background score for TV soaps like Hasratein, Instant Khichadi and Comedy Circus and was appointed in 2007 as music director for the music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee TV. In 2010, Anis played for some more renowned personalities like Ghulam Ali, Suresh Wadkar, Kavita Krishnamoorthy and Anup Jalota.

At present, Anis resides in California, where he performs solo on stage as Keyboard player, Flautist and Pianist, while also participating in various music gigs with local singers and musicians. He also gives music lessons from home.

Bhushan Parchure

(Instrument: Tabla)

A young promising Tabla player of his generation, Bhushan is a descendant of a family that loves and worships the performing arts. At the age of 6 he started training under Shri Shruti Sunder Sir of Farukhabad Gharana and continued to learn from him for 9 years. Bhushan then enrolled at the Ustad Allahrakha School where he practiced and polished his art under the legendary maestro Allahrakha and graduated to the level of promising upcoming artists of India. After his Guru’s demise, Bhushan chose to train under world-renowned Ustad Zakir Hussain, eventually completing his 14 years of training. Looking at his talent, Bhushan was awarded a National Scholarship from the Government of India’s Cultural Department and the title of ‘Sangeet Alankar’ from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.

Bhushan has performed at prestigious events and festivals across the nation and abroad, some of them being Kala Ghoda Festival, Bandra Festival and Samrat Alladiyan Khan Sangeet Sammelan. Not only has he performed with luminaries like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Fazal Qureshi, Pandit Manohar Chimote and Pandit Jeetendra Gore, but also with Oscar-winner music composer A. R. Rehman.

Bhushan has been teaching the Tabla at The Fine Arts Society in Chembur, Mumbai for the last 8 years. In 2010, he performed in Bollywood Show in Portugal that was organized at Casino Estoril and Campa Pequeno in Lisbon and Casa Da Musica in Porto.
